D License


Introduction
-This is the most advanced state level course offered by Tennessee Soccer. The emphasis is on players U13 and above, preparing coaches by expanding their knowledge and understanding of the technical and tactical demands of the game and the developmental process necessary for players of these ages
-To provide an understanding of practical coaching methodology and the framework necessary to prepare players and a team for competition

Length/Format/Type of Course
-38 Hours
-Split Weekend. Held over two 3-day weekends, Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday
-Classroom and Field Sessions

Testing
-Oral Exam, Field Exam, and Written Exam (Laws of the Game and Care/Prevention) are administered.

Grading
-Pass=National D License (Eligible to attend a USSF National C Course after a minimum 1-year waiting period)
-Not Ready (NR)=State D Certificate (can re-test for National D after 6 months)
-Fail=Certificate of Completion (Must re-take D Course)

Prerequisites
-Minimum age 18 years old
-Have held a State E Certificate for 6 months (No E waivers are granted)

Expectations of Candidates
-Must be in attendance and participate in all sessions (classroom and field)
-Bring appropriate soccer attire and writing materials

-Free for Tennessee Soccer registered coaches (unless otherwise noted).

E License

Introduction
-This course is designed to focus on the development of the player, both individually, and as part of the team. It emphasizes technical development and focuses on the U10-U13 age groups.
-The E is an intermediate level course, which also serves as a prerequisite for the D License.

Length/Format/Type of Course
-18 Hours
-Held over one weekend, Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday
-Classroom and Field Sessions

Testing
-None
-However, we have a written test that cover Laws of the Game, Methods of Coaching, and Care/Prevention. This is open book and is graded during the class.
-Although there is not a practical field exam, each candidate is given a practice coaching opportunity and is given feedback on the session from the instructor.

Grading
-Candidates must attend all scheduled sessions and complete course work to receive the State E Certificate.

Prerequisites
-Minimum age of 17 years old

Cost
-Free for Tennessee Soccer registered coaches (unless otherwise noted). Non- registered coaches or coaches attending from out of state, cost is $35.00.

Youth Module Certificate

Introduction
-This course is designed for the parent/coach working with the U6, U8 and U10 age groups, emphasizing age appropriate teaching and activities.
-The course takes the approach that the GAME WITHIN THE CHILD is at the center of all belief, decisions, and actions taken by the child, coach and organization.
-Ideas on parent education, learning theory, demonstration of basic techniques, and organizational meeting are dicussed.

-4 Hours
-Can be held on a weekend or weeknight
-Classroom and Field Sessions

Testing
-None

Grading
-Candidate must attend all scheduled sessions and complete course work to receive the Youth Module Certificate

Prerequisites
-Minimum age 14 years old

-Bring appropriate soccer attire and writing materials

Cost
-Free for Tennessee Soccer registered coaches; $10.00 fee for coach not registered or out of state.
