I played college soccer and/or have numerous years coaching experience, can I waive directly into the D License?

No, all candidates who wish to enroll in the D license must have successfully completed the E certificate and have held it for 6 months.  There are no exceptions.  If you have professional playing experience, please refer to US Soccer eligibility requirements at www.ussoccer.com

How can I upgrade from a State D, to a National D License?

Coaches who receive a State D License must have their license for a minimum of 6 months before they can attempt to upgrade to a National D License. Those wanting to upgrade are not required to retake the entire course.  Candidates will need to take the opening Friday night lecture on Methods of Coaching and the entire second weekend.  The second weekend will consist of a practice coaching session and a final field exam.  

There are no limitations placed on the amount of time a coach may retest, however, there is a waiting period of 6 months between each retest attempt.   

I do not have the appropriate license for my teams division (E Certificate-Division 3; State D License-Division 2; C License or NSCAA National Diploma-Division 1). How can I get a coaching deferment?

A coach may receive a once-per-lifetime coaching deferment, regardless of level, by submitting a request via email to Tom Condone, Director of Coaching. This deferment allows the coach the remainder of the current seasonal year to obtain the appropriate license.

Are coaching education courses free of charge?

Courses are free to coaches who are registered members of Tennessee Soccer.  If  you are a non-registered Tennessee Soccer coach or a coach that resides out-of-state, there is a $15.00 fee for the YM, $35.00 fee for the E and $70.00 for the D.
