Hendersonville, TN, May 6, 2016– Tennessee State Soccer Association (TSSA) is excited to announce the extension of our current Tennessee State League (TSL), in addition to our TSL Juniors Program.
“The competition and number of participating teams in our State League the last two years has steadily increased. It is due to this increase that we feel it is important to offer some variety of league play at all levels of competition and competitive age play.” -Hans Hobson (TSSA, Executive Director)
TSSA will now offer a Division 3 State League and will facilitate it the same as the current Division 2 State League where qualification for the State Cup will be dependent upon competing in the Division 3 TSL. This will be offered to any TSSA registered teams ages U13-U17 Boys and Girls. Specifics regarding the rules, season, and further information can be found at www.tnsoccer.org.
In addition to the Division 3 State League, TSSA will be offering the NEW Tennessee State League Juniors program. The TSL Juniors is a youth academy league program where the participating clubs agree to play one another under the guidelines of the league. League guidelines are designed to promote best practices among the participating clubs and seeks to develop the players and teams by matching up like abilities and introducing promotion and relegation to the older age groups. The rules and Intent to Play are also now available on the TSSA website for the U9-U12 Tennessee State League Juniors. Play for boys and girls will begin in the Fall of 2016-2017 and we will offer a showcase for optional play during each Fall/Spring season. All information is available at www.tnsoccer.org/tsl_soccer_juniors/. Players younger than U9 are allowed to participate in the league, but will need to have permission from their Club Director of Coaching.
“We are excited to begin the Juniors program in Tennessee. Similar youth academy
programs exist in states such as North Carolina and they have seen positive results
and feedback from their member clubs.” -Hans Hobson (TSSA, Executive Director)
