TSSA Wraps Up Spring State Cup and Championship Weekend

The Tennessee State Soccer Association hosted it’s Spring State Cup Championships at Siegel Park in Murfreesboro Memorial Day weekend(first two rounds), with Championship Saturday taking place this past Saturday, June 2nd. Overall, 23 State Champions were crowned in Divisions I, 2, and 3.

The D1 and D2 champions now begin preparations for regional competitions set to take place in the coming weeks.  The D2 boys and girls champions from this weekend, in addition to the older D2 boys champions from earlier this fall, will make their way to Region III President’s Cup in Greeneville, SC, where teams will compete for a chance at USYSA President’s Cup Nationals.  The D1 boys and girls champions from this past weekend, in addition to the older D1 boys champions from this past fall, now head to the Region III Championships in Greensboro, NC, where these teams will compete for a shot at USYSA National Championship Series trophies.

The number of teams competing in this years TSL(Tennessee State League) and State Cup Championships set a record for participation.  The growth of the TSL has allowed TSSA to create it’s championship series to take place over two weekends, allowing more teams the chance to compete and represent Tennessee at each of the regional competitions. Teams from Tennessee have advanced to nationals each of the last two years in both D1 and D2, with Tennessee Soccer Club brining home National Championships in the U18 girls bracket.

Check the TSSA website next week for links to help you stay up to date on results during Regional Championships. Good luck to all teams at this year’s Regionals.
