Nashville Soccer United is looking for a new Director of Coaching!


Nationally Licensed Professional coach to run small local soccer club.

Nashville Soccer United's mission is to bring the joy and fun of soccer to beginning and recreational level youth in Nashville, TN.  Under the direction of a Board of Directors,  the Director of Coaching will fulfill the immediate responsibility of providing operational support to league activities which includes:  1) providing skill-appropriate guided group soccer coaching on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at local public schools for our recreational program;  2) overseeing existing coaches on Wednesdays and Fridays, and 3) overseeing league games all day Saturday.  


The club consists of four programs: 

Cubs: PreK age players, specifically ages three-five, depending on physical development and readiness. Exposes players to rudimentary ball skills, game concepts, and beginning development of coordination. Parent participation required.

In-Town: After-school, site-specific program creating a strong basis for a life-long enjoyment of the game of soccer with emphasis on fundamentals of both tactics and techniques.

Rec Advanced: Twice-a-week training in more advanced tactics/techniques to develop stronger field placement skills and further develop team play concepts and to hone ball skills.

 Travel Light: Localized travel to provide stronger competition for players ready for more serious play. 


Director of Coaching responsibilities include: 

Designing and leading training sessions, as well as communicating with assistants and parent coaches regarding training ideas, techniques and curricula on a per session basis.

Running training sessions for all levels, locating coaches to assist in sessions requiring extra staffing, assessing staffing and equipment needs in time enough to create a positive training environment. Management and mentoring of all coaches. 

Ongoing parent communication.

Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to promoting soccer in a fun, relaxed environment

Experience coaching youth soccer at all levels

Excellent supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, members and participants in positive ways.

Ability to promote good sportsmanship and effort over winning.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.  

Must be able to provide timely feedback and guidance to the Board of Directors so that emerging issues can be addressed effectively

Must be highly organized with the ability to [work under pressure] think creatively and handle multiple tasks

Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information

Oversees Association Spring/Fall Soccer Program

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends: including

Sa, all day

Car transportation required with local travel

Able to transport and organize soccer equipment

Minimum 18 years of age

Minimum two or more years of work experience in sports recreation is required.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience in running soccer programs or a soccer background is also preferred.
