GROWING THE GAME ACROSS TENNESSEE
The Tennessee State Soccer Association’s vision is to be the premier state soccer association in the US known for partnerships, promotion, and pioneering the next generation of soccer. One method we choose to use in order to live out this vision is by taking the game to the streets to inner-city and under-served youth across the state. Providing opportunities for children to play the sport who may not have the financial means allows us to increase participation while changing lives through the wonderful gifts soccer provides:
POSITIVE ROLE MODELS
GOOD PRACTICE HABITS
Our mission is to lead, to serve, and to inspire. We believe it is our duty to help grow the game and inspire the next generation to get involved in soccer. Through our Streets2theStadium initiative we partner with organizations across the state on a local soccer, philanthropic, school, church, and government level to take the game of soccer to the streets and allow all children access to playing the sport.
What’s the “Stadium” mean in Streets2theStadium? Simply put, introducing an under-served boy or girl to the game, helping them grow through soccer, and to becoming a member of a middle school team, a high school team, club team, a college team, or a professional team. Any size or type of “stadium” we can help a child reach that otherwise would have never been introduced to soccer is how we will measure success. All kids should have access to the sport regardless of socio-economic status. It’s that way in many countries around the world and at TSSA we believe it should be that way here.
