If you are ready for the next step in your referee career, it is time to upgrade.

The requirements to upgrade from a Grassroots Referee to a Regional Referee are as follows, if you have any questions, please contact SDA, Susan Williamson:

You MUST Meet ALL Regional Certification Requirements:

Age: Eighteen (18) Years or Older

Enrollment: Course Registration in the LC

Previous Game Experience: Fifty (50) Games as a Referee and Twenty Five (25) as an Assistant Referee at Local Adult Amateur Level

Previous Certification: Minimum of Three (3) Consecutive Years as a Grassroots Referee (Previously Grade 7, 8, or 9)

Training: Regional Referee Course and On-field Experience

Safety and Compliance:

  1. SafeSport Trained

  2. Safe Soccer Training

  3. Background Check

Laws of the Game: Online Regional Quiz

Fitness Test:

  1. Sprint/Interval Test (FIFA Women’s Referee Test)

  2. Male – Category 1

  3. Female – Category 3

Practical Evaluation: Contact SDA, Susan Williamson, to schedule:

  1. Minimum of three (3) Passing Evaluations as a Referee

  2. Two (2) at Adult Amateur Level

  3. One (1) at Highest Youth (18U/19U)

  4. Two (2) x 45 minute halves

  5. Evaluations must be done by three (3) different referee coaches
